Mask: An Interactive Art Exhibit in the Language Resource Center

The artistry of mask-making is shared across cultures around the globe. Masks are created for a variety of purposes and reflect important aspects of the cultures they represent. The exhibit, “Mask,” created by UNC Charlotte Junior Jarred Hamilton includes masks that reflect everything from daily life to danse. This exhibit is currently on display in the Language Resource Center and is the first of its kind in the facility.

While the pieces of the collection engage the viewer, each piece is labelled with a QR Code to provide additional information about the piece. Using a QR Code reader on your smart phone or tablet device, you can scan the code and immediately deepen your understanding of the work. For example, by scanning the QR Code of the mask from Haiti, you can see a short video of how the mask was created.

Mask is on exhibit in the Language Resource Center throughouth the semester and is open to the general public.
